Rolf Harris found guilty

Australian entertainer Rolf Harris has been found guilty of 12 counts of indecently assaulting four girls.

The acts of indecent assault took place in the 1960s, ‘70s and ‘80s and prosecutors said that Mr Harris, Now 84, was a “Jekyll and Hyde” character who took advantage of his fame. UK Police are considering further allegations which did not form part of his trial.

One of the victims was a friend of his daughter, who he groomed and molested between the ages of 13 and 19 and which was the central allegation against him. Another was a seven- or eight-year-old who was looking for his autograph.

Announcing he would pass sentence on Friday, Mr Justice Sweeny said that he would consider medical reports on the 84-year-old Harris’s health but that a custodial term was “uppermost in the court’s mind”.

Do you think a custodial sentence is the right punishment? If so, how long do you think it should be?
