Rusty denied citizenship, twice

One of Australia’s favourite ‘adopted’ sons, Russell Crowe claims he has applied for Australian citizenship and twice been denied.

However, in a written response to Fairfax, the Department of Immigration stated:

“According to Departmental records, Mr Crowe has not submitted an application for a permanent visa or for Australian citizenship.”

“Should Mr Crowe apply for and be granted a permanent visa, there are a variety of options that he may use to meet the eligibility requirements, including the residence requirements.”

The actor has been voted in the top 50 Australian national treasures and, apart from the Queen, is the only non-Australian to have appeared on an Aussie postage stamp. Do you think he should be given citizenship?
