The bear who lives with humans

When you were a kid, did you ever wish your teddy bear would come to life?

Twenty-three years ago, Stepan the brown bear was found by hunters close to death in a Russian forest. When the orphaned cub was presented to Svetlana and Yuriy Panteleenko, they decided to give him a home.

Stepan, now 23 years old, is an adorable, fully grown brown bear who is part of a loving family. He even does chores and helps around the house.

“He absolutely loves people and is a really sociable bear – despite what people might think, he is not aggressive at all,” said Mrs Panteleenko. “We have never been bitten by Stepan.”

Stepan’s diet consists of 25kg of fish, vegetables and eggs each day so, suffice to say, he’s a healthy bear. He loves watching TV, goofing around and playing football. He enjoys gardening and the odd tea party. He’s even a part-time actor and photo model.

Have a look at the photos and see just how happy this unconventional family is together. It’s such a nice tale, and it’s good to know that, sometimes, a good story can come of orphaned animals.
