Three diets to skip in 2013

Fad diets and detox programs are synonymous with new year health kicks, but according to the members of the Dietitians Association of Australia (DAA), there are three programs you should skip in 2013.

More than 230 members of the DAA took part in a study to find out which diets should be avoided in 2013. Given a choice of nine popular diets, 74 per cent voted the Lemon Detox Diet the worst for a second consecutive year. The Acdis and Alkaline Diet and The Six Weeks to OMG Diet rounded off the top three, with 42 and 40 per cent of members voting respectively.

“Don’t put your health in the hands of celebrities-endorsed diets or products that make miraculous weight and fat-loss claims. Like many things in life, good health takes perseverance and commitment to a healthy lifestyle,’ said DAA spokesperson Melanie Grice.
