Happy International Women’s Day. Whether you’re male or female, there will be a woman in your life who you admire. And when we asked our members which Australian women they trust the most, these are the 10 formidable females who made the cut.
In our Retirement in Digital World Survey in August last year, we received 5260 responses to the following:
Australia’s most trusted women across fields of endeavour including: sport, the arts, science, culture, food, politics, journalism, film, academia and medicine:
- Maggie Beer – Australian cook, food author, restaurateur and food manufacturer
- Prof. Fiona Stanley – Australian epidemiologist, best known for her work in maternal health and child health disorders
- Dawn Fraser, AO, MBE – four-time Olympic gold medallist in swimming, winner of eight Olympic medals in total
- Prof. Fiona Wood – plastic surgeon based in Perth who invented the ‘spray-on skin’ to treat burn patients
- Ita Buttrose, AO, OBE – former Australian of the Year in 2013, she’s known as a cutting edge journalist and founding editor of Cleo magazine
- Rosie Batty – Former Australian of the Year in 2015 and known for her work in helping victims of domestic violence
- Julia Gillard – former Prime Minister of Australia, and Australia’s first female Prime Minister
- Cate Blanchett – actress and theatre director, she has won six ACCTA Awards, two Academy Awards, three Screen Actors Guild Awards, three Golden Globe Awards and three BAFTA Awards
- Pauline Hanson – Australian politician and founder of the One Nation party, of which she is leader
- Noni Hazlehurst AM – actress and presenter, loved by all generations for her roles on Play School and The Sullivans to her more recent acting roles.
