If you’re a pet parent who loves to spoil your furry friend with the latest and most fantastic toys, you may have come across a glowing chew ball designed to light up playtime and keep your pooch entertained well into the evening.
But before you rush to add it to your shopping cart, there’s an important update you should be aware of—one that could impact the safety of your household, especially if you have young children.
The All For Paws K Nite Glowing Chew Dog Ball is designed to light up when chewed or bounced, making it a fun and interactive toy for dogs who love a bit of nighttime play.
The glowing feature is powered by a button or coin battery hidden inside the ball—and that’s where the trouble begins.
Recently, this product has been recalled because it does not comply with Australia’s mandatory safety standards for products containing button or coin batteries.
These standards are in place for a very good reason: button batteries, while small, can pose a deadly risk if swallowed or inserted into the body, particularly for young children.
Button batteries are found in many household items, from remote controls to greeting cards, and, unfortunately, in some pet toys. If a child swallows a button battery, it can get stuck in their throat or digestive tract.

The battery can then start to burn through tissue, causing severe internal injuries or even death, sometimes in as little as two hours. Even if the battery doesn’t cause burns, it can still be a choking hazard.
What’s especially concerning about the All For Paws K Nite Glowing Chew Dog Ball is that consumers may not even realise there’s a button battery inside.
This hidden danger means that parents and carers might not take the necessary precautions to keep the toy out of reach of little hands.
If you’ve purchased the All For Paws K Nite Glowing Chew Dog Ball, here’s what you need to do right away:
- Stop using the ball immediately. Take it away from your dog and keep it out of the reach of children.
- If you have purchased the product through Pet Circle, please contact them for a full refund. If you have purchased the toy through another retailer, please contact them directly.
- If you’ve given the toy to someone else or disposed of it, let Pet Circle know so they can track the recall’s progress.
- You can also contact the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission. When you do so, quote PRA number 2025/20557.
How to keep your family safe
This recall is a timely reminder to check your home for other products containing buttons or coin batteries. Here are a few tips to help keep your loved ones safe:
- Store spare batteries out of reach and sight of children.
- Check that the battery compartments on all devices are secure and can’t be easily opened by little fingers.
- Dispose of used batteries safely and promptly.
- Be extra cautious with toys, gadgets, and novelty items that light up, make noise, or move—they often contain button batteries.
While it’s always fun to treat our pets, safety should come first. When buying toys for your dog or cat, look for sturdy, well-made products free from small parts or hidden batteries.
If a toy lights up or makes noise, check its power and whether the battery compartment is securely fastened.
And remember, if you ever have doubts about a product’s safety, don’t hesitate to contact the retailer or manufacturer for more information.
