Beef and Beer Casserole

A hearty winter casserole is just the ticket now that the colder weather is upon us. You will salivate with anticipation as it simmers on the stove.


  • 600g chuck steak, cubed
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 1 cup beer
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon flour
  • Pinch of curry powder
  • Black pepper
  • 4 carrots, chopped
  • 2 cups frozen peas
  • 2 teaspoons hot mustard
  • 2 tablespoon parsley, chopped

Fry onion for five minutes.  Add meat and brown for two minutes.  Sprinkle over flour, add beer and water and season with curry powder and black pepper.  Cover and simmer for one hour.  Add carrots and peas and simmer for a further 15 minutes.  Just before serving stir in mustard and parsley.
