Fruity Beef Casserole

Less expensive cuts of meat are often the tastiest, they just need a little more thought and time when it comes to cooking.

2 tablespoon vegetable oil
750g blade steak, cubed
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
1/2 cup of water (can be replaced with beef stock or a richer flavour)
2 onions, sliced
1 potato, sliced
2 apples, peeled and sliced
1 tin peeled plum tomatoes

In a large pot brown steak in oil and season with salt and pepper. Remove and put to one side.
Fry onions until transparent. Add beef and cover with water and simmer for 30 minutes.
Add potato and simmer for a further 15 minutes
Then add apples and tomatoes and simmer for a further 15 minutes.

Serve immediately with crusty bread.
