Apples and pears are in abundance at the moment, so grab an armful of fruit and bake this delicious Apple and Pear Crumble.
6 Granny Smith apples
1/4 cup of water
2 tablespoons of sugar
2 tablespoons of brandy
1 cup self-raising flour
1/2 cup brown sugar
Peel and slice apples and pears and place in a saucepan with sugar, water and brandy. Bring to the boil and simmer for about 10 minutes. Transfer into a bowl to cool.
Make the crumble by sifting the flour into a bowl and stir in the brown sugar. Finely chop the butter and rub into flour mixture with fingertips until a fine crumble forms.
Place the apple mixture into a baking dish and sprinkle with crumble.
Bake in a preheated oven at 1800C for 25 to 30 minutes.
Serve hot with cream or ice cream.
