Fat-Free Ginger Snaps

Now take notice, these tasty little biscuits may be fat free but the sugar content is quite high.  We would suggest that these biscuits be a very occasional treat.

Ingredients

2 & 3/4 cups self-raising flour
1 teaspoon ground ginger
1 & 1/2 teaspoon ground allspice
1 & 1/4 cups sugar
3/4 cup apple sauce
4 tablespoons molasses

Method

Preheat the oven to 190°C. Mix dry ingredients together. Cream sugar and molasses and then stir in apple sauce. Add dry ingredients and stir lightly until combined. Roll dough into balls, one tablespoon at a time, and then roll in some extra sugar. Place onto a greased oven-tray and flatten slightly. Bake for 12–15 minutes, or remove earlier for chewy cookies.
