Banana Split

A winner with the whole family, the classic Banana Split is even more delicious when shared and is so simple to make.

Serves: Two

Time: 30 minutes

  • 100g dark or milk chocolate
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons desiccated coconut
  • 2 tablespoons chopped peanuts
  • Vanilla ice-cream
  • Chocolate ice-cream
  • 2 bananas, sliced
  • Coconut and peanuts, to serve

Place chocolate in a heatproof bowl over a saucepan half-filled with simmering water, making sure the bowl doesn’t touch the water. Stir the chocolate until melted and smooth then remove from the heat and set aside to cool. Place coconut in a small non-stick frying pan over medium heat and toast, stirring occasionally, until golden. Remove and set aside then add peanuts to the frying pan and repeat. Remove from the heat and cool. To serve, place scoops of vanilla and chocolate ice-cream in serving bowls. Top with bananas, then drizzle with the melted chocolate. Sprinkle with coconut and peanuts and enjoy.
