Picking up the phone and ringing for home delivered pizza is easy, but making your own pizza at home is not that difficult and the flavours in this authentic margherita are divine.
For the dough:
- 1 1/2 cups flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon yeast
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 6 tablespoons lukewarm water
For the topping:
- 6 tomatoes, thinly sliced
- 175 g mozzarella cheese, thinly sliced
- Salt and pepper
- 2 tablespoons basil leaves, shredded
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
Sift the flour and salt in a bowl and stir in the yeast. Make a well in the centre and pour in the olive oil and water. Knead for five minutes.
Return the dough to a clean bowl, cover with oiled plastic wrap and set aside to rise in a warm place for one hour.
Knead for a further five minutes, then roll out and transfer to a lightly oiled dish.
Arrange the remaining ingredients on top of the dough and bake at 230°C for 15-20 minutes.
