Drew’s “Happy Hour”

Thank God it’s Friday. To kick things off, Drew has created a list of his six favourite cocktails made from ingredients found in many homes. But remember – one is probably enough!

Bloody Mary
100 ml tomato juice
50 ml vodka
20 ml lemon juice
1 dash of Worcestershire sauce
salt
ground pepper
Tabasco sauce to taste

Method
Add all the mixtures into high glass with ice
Mix well
Add seasonings to taste

Cosmopolitan
60 ml vodka
30 ml Cointreau
60 ml fresh lime juice
60 ml cranberry juice

Method
Shake all ingredients with ice in a cocktail shaker and strain into a cold glass.

Long Island iced tea
15 ml triple sec
15 ml light rum
15 ml gin
15 ml vodka
15 ml tequila
30 ml sour mix (see below)

Method
To make the sour mix, combine 1 cup of sugar with 1 cup of water until completely dissolved. Add 1 cup of lime juice and 1 cup of lemon juice.
Pour all the spirits and sour mix into a tall glass with ice and fill with cola.

Lava Lamp Martini
60ml vodka
30ml raspberry liqueur
30ml honey (thick honey is better!)

Method
Pour the vodka into a cocktail shaker with ice, and shake well.
Stain into a chilled cocktail glass
Mix the honey and raspberry liqueur well in a shot glass
Use a spoon to slowly drizzle the honey mixture into the vodka

Kamikaze
50 ml vodka
30 ml lime juice
30 ml triple sec (orange flavoured)

Method
Pour the ingredients into a shaker with ice cubes
Shake well
Strain into a cocktail glass

Tequila Sunrise
120 ml orange juice
60 ml tequila
30 ml grenadine (can substitute raspberry cordial if need be)
1 maraschino cherry!

Method
Pour the tequila and the orange juice into a high glass with ice cubes
Stir well
Slowly pour the grenadine around the inside edge.
Garnish with the maraschino cherry
