1 tablespoon water
1/4 teaspoon baking powder
1 egg yolk
450g minced meat
1 beef cube
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon pepper
1 cup water
3 teaspoons flour
Preheat oven to 180’C and lightly grease pie dish.
Sift flour, baking powder, and salt and rub butter into flour very lightly till free from lumps. Beat egg and water together and add gradually to mixture to make a very dry dough. Turn on to floured board and smooth out into a round shape. Roll out lightly and evenly to size and shape required.
Sauté meat until browned and drain off surplus fat. Crumble stock cube into meat and add salt, pepper, nutmeg and water. Bring to a boil and cook for a few minutes, then remove pan from heat, cool slightly and add flour to thicken. Return to heat and stir continuously until well thickened.
Allow to cool slightly and then place in pastry case and top with pastry lid and place in oven for 30 minutes or until pastry is golden brown. Serve with lightly steamed seasonal vegetables and potatoes of choice.
