This is the perfect savoury tart to serve for a quick lunch or dinner when you’re running short on time. It’s simple and easy and will tantalise your tastebuds. It can be served hot or at room temperature and keeps well for a few days too.
Time: 30 minutes
- 1 refrigerated pie crust
- 3 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 2 tomatoes, cut into thin wedges
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- A pinch of pepper
- 1/2 cup of chopped spring onions
- 2 tablespoons fresh bread crumbs
- 2 tablespoons butter, melted
Prepare pie crust as per directions on box for single crust and let cool. Preheat oven to 220°C. Sprinkle three cups of cheese into the crust and top with overlapping tomato wedges in circular pattern. Sprinkle with basil, oregano, salt and pepper. Spoon spring onions into centre of pie with bread crumbs and drizzle with melted butter. Place into oven and bake for 20 minute. Serve hot or at room temperature.
