Many Australians turn to gas heaters as a convenient and effective solution for staying warm and comfortable outdoors, especially during the cooler months. Whether enjoying a quiet evening on the patio or hosting friends and family for a weekend BBQ, a reliable outdoor heater can make all the difference.
If you’ve recently picked up a bargain outdoor heater from ALDI, it’s a good idea to take a moment to double-check your backyard setup. Recent safety concerns have prompted a recall on specific models.

ALDI has issued an urgent recall for its Coolabah outdoor area gas heater, which is sold in stores across New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia, Victoria, Western Australia, and the Australian Capital Territory.
The issue centres around the heater’s gas compartment. According to the recall notice, excess gas may escape from the cylinder compartment due to a lack of separation from the flame source.
If gas leaks and comes into contact with the heater’s flame, it could ignite unexpectedly, creating a serious risk of fire, injury, or even death.
The affected model is the Coolabah outdoor area gas heater, model number SKYFSD-DSS6NW.
This number is on the metal plate rating label attached to the heater. If you bought one of these heaters between 7 May and 9 May, ALDI urges you to stop using it immediately.
What should you do if you have one?
First and foremost, don’t take any chances. Turn off the heater, disconnect it from the gas supply, and don’t attempt to use it again.
ALDI asks all customers who purchased the affected model to return it to any ALDI store for a full refund—no questions asked.
If you’re unsure whether your heater is affected, check the model number on the rating label.
For more information and guidance, call the ALDI recall helpline on 13 25 34 or email [email protected].
