Find out the Easter Monday hours for major stores—don’t miss out!

Easter Monday is just around the corner, and with it comes the inevitable question: ‘Which stores will be open, and when?’

It’s a day that can throw even the most organised shopper for a loop, with opening hours varying wildly from state to state.

But fear not because we’ve done the detective work for you, compiling a comprehensive guide to the Easter Monday trading hours of major stores like Woolworths, Coles, ALDI, Bunnings, Big W, Kmart, and IGA.

Before we dive into the specifics, it’s important to remember that Easter Monday is a public holiday, so trading hours are often shorter than usual.

This can be a bit of a hiccup in your routine, especially if you’re planning a family gathering or need to pick up some last-minute items for your Easter celebrations. So, let’s keep you informed to ensure your holiday is as smooth as chocolate bunny ears.

Woolworths: The fresh food people keep their doors open across Australia on Easter Monday, except for South Australia and the Northern Territory, where only a select few stores will welcome shoppers.

Coles: Most Coles supermarkets will be open nationwide, but South Australians will find most stores closed. For those outside of South Australia, be aware that some stores may have reduced hours, so it’s best to check ahead.

ALDI: Bargain hunters rejoice, as all ALDI stores will be open across the country, except for a few in South Australia that will remain closed.

Kmart: Kmart will keep the lights on in most states and territories, but South Australians will find most stores shut.

Big W: All Big W stores will be open across the country, but as with the others, South Australia will see most stores closed.

Bunnings: If you’re planning some DIY or need gardening supplies, all Bunnings stores will be open for your convenience.

IGA: These independently owned stores will mostly be open but with reduced hours, offering a local option for your grocery needs.

While we’ve provided this handy guide, it’s crucial to note that individual store hours can vary, and sometimes, last-minute changes occur.

To avoid disappointment or a wasted trip, we highly encourage you to check the operating hours of your local stores online or give them a quick call before heading out.

Why not use this opportunity to plan your shopping trip around the reduced hours? You could combine your store visit with a leisurely morning walk or a coffee catch-up with a friend. Easter Monday doesn’t have to be a rush; it can be a day of relaxed productivity.

And remember, while the convenience of having these stores open is excellent, the staff working on public holidays are giving up their time so we can grab our essentials and more. A smile and a thank you can go a long way in making their day a little brighter.

We’d love to hear from you in the comments below—how do you navigate public holiday trading hours? Do you have any tips or tricks for making the most of the day?

  1. It’s a public holidaay, why shouldn’t the supermarkets staff havethe day off as all other workers have. It’s only people who are incapable of buying their groceries in plenty of time to cover Easter Monday that complain.. Good on you S.A.
