Fire risk sparks urgent recall of popular scented candle

If you love winding down at home with a good book and the soft glow of a scented candle meant to relax you, here’s something you should know before lighting your next one.

The iKOU De-Stress Small Candle has been recalled—and it’s not just a small issue.

A candle that’s too hot to handle?

While the iKOU De-Stress Small Candle is designed to help you unwind, it has recently been recalled due to a rather alarming safety issue.

The problem? The wax can actually catch fire because of excessive essential oil content.

That’s right—what is meant to be a soothing ritual could turn into a dangerous situation, with a risk of serious burns or property damage.

Incidents have already occurred, prompting iKOU Australia Pty Ltd to take immediate action.

If you purchased this candle between 1 December 2024 and 10 June 2025—either in-store or online, anywhere in Australia—it is important to take note.

What should you do if you have this candle?

First and foremost, stop using the candle immediately. Even if you have not experienced any issues, it is simply not worth the risk.

Here’s what you need to do next:

  • Contact iKOU for a full refund. They are handling the recall directly and want to ensure everyone stays safe.
  • Inform iKOU if you have gifted the candle or already disposed of it.
  • Reach out via email at [email protected] or visit their recall page at www.ikou.com.au/recalls for more information.

If you have any concerns about how the recall is being handled, or if you are not satisfied with the remedy offered, you may also contact the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC).

Be sure to quote PRA number 2025/20565 when contacting the regulator regarding this recall.
