Items, including popular kids’ products, have just been recalled from major stores!

Recent announcements from several prominent retailers in Australia necessitate attention from consumers who have purchased specific goods.

A number of widely available products, spanning various categories from household items to personal goods, have been subject to recall notices.

Individuals who have recently acquired items from these retailers are advised to review the details of these announcements to ensure their safety and well-being, as well as that of their families.

If you’ve shopped at Kmart, Coles, Liquorland, or even browsed for baby essentials online lately, it’s time to check your cupboards and closets.

A wave of urgent product recalls has hit some of Australia’s most trusted retailers, affecting everything from children’s toys and baby care items to popular drinks and women’s footwear.

Here’s a comprehensive roundup of what’s been recalled, why, and what you should do next to keep your family safe.

1. The North Face Women’s Shellista V Mid Waterproof Boots

What’s the issue?
The North Face has issued a global recall for its Women’s Shellista V Mid Waterproof Boots (style A8ADB), sold both in-store and online between 1 October 2024 and 9 January 2025.

The problem? A design flaw means the hook on one boot can catch the lace of the other, posing a serious tripping hazard.

There have already been incidents reported, and the risk of injury is significant.

Affected colours:

  • Clay Grey/TNF Black
  • Timber Tan/TNF Black
  • TNF Black/Asphalt Grey
  • White Dune

What should you do?
If you own a pair, stop wearing them immediately. Contact The North Face for a full refund and return instructions. Don’t risk a nasty fall—especially as we get older, falls can have serious consequences.

2. Blissbaby Flatus Tube, Single-Use Lufti Colic Reliever

What’s the issue?
The Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) has pulled this popular baby product from shelves due to ‘insufficient evidence’ supporting its safe use.

While the device was marketed as a drug-free way to relieve wind and colic in babies, the TGA says the potential risks can’t be ruled out.

Thankfully, no adverse events have been reported so far, but with over 50,000 units sold, many families may have this at home.

What should you do?
If you have a Blissbaby Flatus tube, do not use it. Contact Blissbaby at [email protected] or call 0421 850 487 to arrange a return and refund.

If you’re concerned about your child’s health or have used the product, consult your GP for advice.

3. Coles and Liquorland: Uberbrau and Henninger Lagers

What’s the issue?
Coles Group has recalled two popular low-alcohol beers—Uberbrau Ultra Low Alcohol Lager (330ml) and Henninger Lager Bottle (660ml)—sold at Liquorland, First Choice Liquor Market, and Coles Online in Western Australia between 2 April and 15 April 2025.

The recall is due to a chemical found on the outer packaging, which produces an unpleasant odour and could cause illness if consumed.

Affected batches:

  • Uberbrau Ultra Low Alcohol Lager 330ml (packing date 12/11/2024, expiry 12/02/2026)
  • Henninger Lager Bottle 660ml (packing date 05/12/2024, expiry 05/03/2026)

What should you do?
If you’ve purchased these beers, do not drink them. Dispose of them safely and contact the place of purchase for a full refund. If you’ve already consumed the product and feel unwell, seek medical advice immediately.

Contact for refunds:

  • Liquorland: 1300 300 640
  • First Choice Liquor Market: 1300 308 833
  • Coles Online Customer Care: 1800 455 400

4. Kmart Anko Wooden Play Push Along Firetruck

What’s the issue?
Kmart has recalled its Anko Wooden Play Push Along Firetruck, sold between 12 October 2024 and 31 March 2025.

If the wheels are attached incorrectly (back-to-front), the bolt and nut can loosen and fall off, creating a choking hazard for young children.

This is a serious risk, as small parts can easily end up in little mouths.

What should you do?
Check your firetruck toy immediately. If the wheels are incorrectly attached, follow the updated assembly instructions available on the Kmart website or contact Kmart Customer Service on 1800 124 125 for guidance.

You don’t need to return the toy, but it’s vital to ensure it’s assembled safely before letting children play with it.

Why Do Product Recalls Happen?

Product recalls are more common than you might think, and they’re a sign that safety systems are working.

Recalls are issued to protect consumers from harm, whether due to a design flaw, a manufacturing error, or new information about a product’s safety.

Staying informed about recalls is especially important for older Australians who may be buying for grandchildren or have health vulnerabilities.

What Should You Do If You Own a Recalled Product?

Stop using the product immediately.
Follow the recall instructions—this may involve returning the item, disposing of it, or checking for assembly errors.
Contact the retailer or manufacturer for a refund or replacement.
Consult your doctor if you have health concerns after using a recalled product.

How to Stay Up to Date on Recalls

Sign up for recall alerts from Product Safety Australia or the TGA.
Check retailer websites for the latest recall information.
Read the fine print on product packaging and keep receipts for major purchases.
