Attention, savvy shoppers and bulk-buy enthusiasts! In a time when grocery prices continue to climb, one retailer is stepping up to bring you major discounts.
A significant new commercial establishment is preparing to commence operations, representing a substantial investment in the area, and promising to offer consumers a diverse range of goods.
This upcoming opening marks an expansion of a well-known retail model within the Australian market. The facility is expected to provide a large-scale shopping experience, potentially influencing local purchasing habits and the broader retail environment across the country.
The retail landscape is about to get much more exciting with the grand opening of Costco’s brand-new $118 million warehouse in the western suburbs.
Set to open its doors in Melbourne on Wednesday, 9 April, at 8am, the Ardeer warehouse is not just a replacement for Costco’s inaugural Australian location at Docklands—it’s an upgrade.

Spanning a vast 16,000 square metres, this behemoth of a store joins an elite group of 14 other Costco warehouses across the country, each dedicated to bringing you an array of products at prices that are hard to beat.
But what exactly can you expect from this member-only retail giant? Well, for starters, you’ll find all the groceries you’re accustomed to seeing at major supermarkets like Woolworths and Coles.
However, the benefits of an annual Costco membership extend far beyond the pantry. From stylish clothing to the latest appliances, cutting-edge electronics to white goods, health and beauty products to sporting goods, toys, and even insurance—Costco is a one-stop shop for all your household needs.
Let’s not forget the speciality departments that make Costco a unique shopping destination. Freshly baked goods, quality meats, ripe produce, a diverse deli, and even an optical and hearing aid centre are just the tip of the iceberg.
For those with vehicles, the tyre centre, food court, and vehicle services will keep both you and your car happy.
Plus, with Costco’s largest petrol station in Australia already pumping since early March, you could also fuel up for less before you even start shopping.
The opening week is set to dazzle with a range of specials on ‘everyday essentials’ and ‘wow’ items that you won’t find anywhere else. Imagine stocking up on a 15-litre container of ghee, a 7.5-kilogram tub of Maggi gravy mix, or even a 4.5-litre bottle of Grey Goose vodka. And for the tech-savvy, a 100-inch Hisense smart TV could be the centrepiece of your living room.
Meanwhile, if you’re into leisure and wellness, consider the extra-large golf cart or the two-person infrared sauna. And for those who love a bit of whimsy, life-sized teddy bears and palm trees await.

Megan Belanger, Costco Australia and New Zealand’s marketing and eCommerce director, is confident that the ‘Costco effect’ will bring much-needed price relief to the area.
‘We’ve seen this happen with fuel,’ she said, ‘I hope this happens in this area for the people who live here and that there will be some good savings for them.’
With over 2,000 workers employed during construction and more than 300 staff members ready to serve you once the doors open, Costco’s commitment to offering its ‘signature amazing value and quality’ is evident.
Moreover, the director also reminded the shoppers to get in early to stock up on supplies, saying, ‘Stock is limited, so members should get in quick to grab their favourite items on opening day.’
Costco’s bulk-buy format and exclusive member deals have already made a significant impact since the first Australian branch opened in Docklands in 2009.
In 2023, its total sales reportedly skyrocketed to $4.4 billion, up from $3 billion in the previous year.
Are you considering getting a Costco membership? With annual memberships priced at $65 for businesses and individuals and $130 for executive memberships, you could unlock massive savings.
