If you’ve ever tripped over clutter or spent ages searching for those small, hard-to-find items that seem to multiply no matter how often you tidy, you’re not alone.
For many Australians, keeping living spaces organised can feel like a never-ending challenge, especially for oddly-sized belongings that don’t have a prominent place. But what if there was a simple, affordable solution that professional organisers swear by?

Enter the humble $19 compartment container from The Reject Shop—a professional organiser’s secret weapon for taming clutter chaos.
Melbourne-based organiser and mum Belle Harte has tested this storage hero in her own home and countless clients’ spaces, and the verdict is in: it’s a game-changer.
‘These compartment containers are really good for all of those because you can take out the dividers or leave them in, and they go under beds, so it’s out of sight, out of mind, and you can just roll them out. I love them—I use those a lot,’ Harte explained.
The beauty of these containers is their adaptability. You can customise the compartments to suit your needs. And because they’re designed to slide neatly under beds, you’re reclaiming precious floor space and keeping clutter at bay.
But Harte’s love affair with The Reject Shop doesn’t stop at toy storage. She’s also a fan of their Supa Clear range for pantry organisation. Her top pick? The 4.5L clear container, a steal at $14.
‘It’s basically like a cereal dispenser, but it looks really similar to the really expensive Oxo brand, and it’s really airtight and it’s like half the price,’ she said.
‘It’s the 4.5L in particular that I like using for cereal, and they’re really good for kids too because they’ve got a really easy clip to open and pour out your cereal. Oxo sell the same one for over $30, so it’s really great.’
The Supa Clear range comes in various sizes—1.5L for $7.50, 2.5L for $10, and 3.5L for $12—so you can mix and match to suit your pantry needs.

Harte’s top three Reject Shop finds include the Corrie basket with a lid and a plastic storage basket that is as stylish as it is practical.
‘Kmart have a similar one but the [version from] The Reject Shop, in my opinion, it’s just that little bit more elite, it’s just got a bit of a classier look to it and it’s called the Corrie basket with a lid,’ she said.
Available in three sizes (5.5L for $5, 12.5L for $8, and 17.5L for $10) and two colours (grey and white), these baskets are perfect for everything from pantry back stock to snacks and baking supplies.
‘There are a lot of different things that would do the same job, but I think [the Corrie basket], you pop a label on it and it looks like a really expensive tub when it’s only $10 which is nice, especially when you’re having to buy multiples of these things,’ Harte added.

It’s easy to assume that a perfectly organised home requires a hefty investment in high-end storage, but as Harte demonstrates, you don’t need to break the bank to get results.
The key is to choose products that are functional, flexible, and fit your space—and sometimes, the best options are hiding in plain sight at your local discount store.
