As the nation prepares to commemorate Anzac Day on April 25, 2025, Australians will honour the brave men and women who have served the country. As a national public holiday, Anzac Day may also bring changes to usual shopping hours.
Here’s what you need to know about the opening hours of some of Australia’s most popular stores on Anzac Day 2025:
Woolworths
In New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia, and Perth, most Woolworths stores will remain closed for the day. However, for those in Victoria, the Northern Territory, and the ACT, doors will open at 1pm. Tasmanian Woolworths stores will welcome shoppers from 12:30pm, while regional Western Australian stores will open at either 12pm or 1pm.
Coles
Shoppers in NSW and Queensland will find Coles stores closed on Anzac Day. Victorian stores will reopen at 1pm, while those in the Northern Territory will open at 12pm. Coles in the ACT and Tasmania will open at either 12:30pm or 1pm. For those in SA and WA, it’s best to check online as opening hours will vary by location.
ALDI
ALDI stores in Victoria will be open, but those in Queensland will be closed. Opening hours for ALDI stores in other states and territories will vary, so customers are encouraged to use the ALDI store locator for specific information.
Westfield
Westfield shopping centres in NSW, Queensland, SA, and WA will be closed on Anzac Day. In the ACT, Westfield will operate from 1pm to 5pm, and in Victoria from 1pm to 9pm.
Kmart
Kmart stores in NSW, Queensland, and WA will be closed. Stores in Victoria and South Australia will open after 1pm, and in the ACT, Kmart will open after 1:30pm.
Dan Murphy’s and BWS
Most Dan Murphy’s and BWS stores will begin trading from 1pm on Anzac Day. However, those attached to ALH Hotels will follow the hotel’s licence for trading hours. In NSW, while most stores will be closed all day, selected stores attached to ALH Hotels will be open. Opening hours in SA and WA will vary, so it’s advisable to call your local store for more information.
Big W
Big W stores in WA, NSW, and Queensland will remain closed on Anzac Day. Stores in other states and territories will operate at reduced hours.
IKEA
IKEA stores in NSW, WA, and Queensland will be closed, with reduced hours in Victoria and SA.
Bunnings
All Bunnings Warehouses in Queensland and NSW will be closed on Anzac Day. Victorian, Tasmanian, and ACT stores will be open from 1pm to 7pm. SA stores will welcome customers from midday until 5pm, and NT stores will have varied opening times. Most Bunnings in WA will be open from noon to 7pm, except for Armadale, Bunbury, and Kalgoorlie, which will be closed.
