A new find at Woolworths has sparked curiosity among those who enjoy an occasional sweet indulgence. It’s not every day a supermarket dessert creates this much chatter.
But this one—rich, creamy, and a little unexpected—is turning heads for all the right reasons.
Early reviewers are already calling it a standout, though it may not be exactly what it seems at first bite.
Its flavours lean into something familiar, but the name might lead you to expect something else entirely.
For those with a soft spot for comforting puddings and a touch of something festive, this latest release could well be worth your attention.
Woolworths’ Gingerbread Pudding 2 pack, priced at $9 (or $4.50 per pudding), has recently emerged as a surprise hit.
It features a generous swirl of dulce de leche sauce and is topped with delicate white chocolate flakes—an indulgent treat that has caught the attention of dessert lovers online.
Social media taste tester Nick Vavitis, known for his candid food reviews, recently tried the pudding and awarded it an enthusiastic ‘12 out of 10’.
His only surprise? He felt it tasted more like caramel than gingerbread.
‘It was very “caramelly”—between the dulce swirl and the caramelised taste from being baked, you could’ve fooled me, I thought it was caramel pudding,’ he said.
Nick singled out the dulce de leche and white chocolate as his favourite components. ‘They are my two favourite flavour profiles,’ he said.
However, he did find the timing of the release curious. ‘Strange time of the year to release it? I felt very Christmasy eating this, it almost confused me,’ he added.
Gingerbread is traditionally a festive flavour, though Woolworths may simply be offering a bit of seasonal cheer ahead of schedule.
He also noted the gingerbread flavour was slightly subdued. ‘The caramel was definitely overpowering it,’ he explained.
Still, that didn’t dampen his enthusiasm: ‘I will definitely be pudding this in my shopping basket again soon.’
For his quick taste test, Nick ate the dessert cold—straight from the pack and in his car. The packaging suggests heating it up, and several of his followers agreed it would likely be even better warm, possibly with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on the side.
‘I just got absolutely bashed in the face with caramel,’ Nick said with amusement. ‘It probably is a good idea to heat these up, but I’m in the car, so who cares? It’s very, very, very rich in the caramel.’
He went on to say, ‘I actually feel like it’s everything that I like in a dessert all in one. It’s super, super sweet—if you don’t like super sweet stuff, you might not like it. For me, personally, the white chocolate toppings on the top make the caramel and the actual pudding sweeter. I like it.’
Nick’s review sparked plenty of conversation online. One Woolworths bakery staff member commented, ‘I work in the bakery and legit just put these out today with the new choc hazelnut ones. I don’t like gingerbread flavour so I might actually try these now as I love caramel.’
Another follower asked, ‘So caramel pudding, not gingerbread?’ to which Nick replied, ‘Basically.’
A third added, ‘Nah I’m sure that would taste better heated up… and with ice cream.’
So, what’s the verdict? If you enjoy caramel, white chocolate, and rich, sweet puddings, this might be just the thing.
If you were hoping for a bold gingerbread note, you may find it leaning a bit more on the sugary side. Still, at $4.50 each, it’s an affordable and convenient treat—one you might want to enjoy with a friend or family member.
As with all indulgences, preferences will vary. Whether this sweet addition becomes a regular on your shopping list or just a one-time treat, it’s certainly created a moment worth discussing.
