How to repair or remove programs

If you have apps or programs that are not running correctly in Windows 10, you have two options – repair or remove.

While not available to all apps and programs that are not running correctly, you should first try to repair the problem. You will only see the repair, change or modify options on some apps and programs, however, not on all of them.

Repair options from Settings
Select the Start button, then select Settings>Apps>Apps & features and then select the app or program that you want to fix.

Once you have done this, select the Advanced options link under the name of the app (some apps don’t have this option).

On the page that opens, select Repair if it is available. If it isn’t available or doesn’t fix the problem, select Reset.

Repair options from the Control Panel
In the search box on the taskbar, type Control Panel and select it from the results and then select Programs>Programs and Features.

Once you have done this, right click on the program you want to fix and select Repair, or if that is not available, select Change and then follow the directions on the screen.

If repairing your programs or apps doesn’t fix your problems, you will have to remove or uninstall them.

Uninstall from the Start menu
Select the Start button and look for the app or program that is causing you issues and right click on it and select Uninstall.

Uninstall from the Settings page
Select the Start button, then select Settings>Apps>Apps & features and then select the app you want to remove and then select Uninstall.

Uninstall from the Control Panel
In the search box on the taskbar, type Control Panel and select it from the results and then select Programs>Programs and Features.

Once you have done this, right click on the program you want to remove and select Uninstall or Uninstall/Change and then follow the directions on the screen.
