How to bookmark a webpage

While you may have your favourite website set as your homepage, are you one of the many internet users who are not utilising bookmarks? Drew explains how bookmarks can increase your productivity and how to create them.

Gone are the days of simply googling everything. If you haven’t already, set up your favourite website as your homepage. For your other most visited pages, setting up bookmarks means you can visit that website in the click of a button instead of trying to remember the exact website address and having to type it in.

Follow the instructions below for your web browser.

Internet Explorer
To add a website to your favourites, navigate to the website. Click on ‘Favourites’ from the menu at the top. From the dropdown menu, click ‘Add to favourites’. Change the name of the website to what you want it to appear as and then click ‘Add’.

Mozilla Firefox
To add a website to your bookmarks, navigate to the website. Click on ‘Bookmarks’ from the menu at the top. From the dropdown menu, click ‘Bookmark This Page’. Change the name of the website to what you want it to appear as and then click ‘Done’. You can also drag and drop the website’s icon onto the bookmarks toolbar if you would like superfast access to the website. (Drag the icon from the left of the address to just under it).

Apple Safari
To add a website to your bookmarks, navigate to the website. Click on ‘Bookmarks’ from the menu at the top. From the dropdown menu, click ‘Add Bookmark’. A pop-up menu will now appear with two different areas to change. In the first area which includes a dropdown menu, select ‘Bookmarks Bar’. In the second area, change the current information to the name of the website you are bookmarking. The bookmark will now appear in the bookmark bar, which is the area below the address bar (where you type website addresses).

Google Chrome
Start by navigating to the website. On the far right of the navigation panel, where you type in the address, is a star. Simply click on this star, type in the name of the bookmark and then click ‘Done’. Depending on how your browser is set up, you may not have the bookmark navigation panel activated. This should appear below your navigation panel and once you have added a bookmark, the bookmark should appear on it. You can activate the panel at any time by holding down Ctrl and Shift at the same time while pressing B on your keyboard.
