Best electronic postcards

Whether you are looking for a free eCard or wish to send a postcard with your photo on the front using nothing but your smartphone, this handy guide can help you out.

Cards in the Post
Cards in the Post allows you to upload your own image and write a message. The company will then print it as a postcard and send it anywhere in the world on your behalf. This is the ultimate in personalised postcards.

Cards app
While not strictly for postcards, the Cards app allows you to create a letterpress card, complete with a personalised photo, and then send it anywhere in the world. This is a great option for birthdays and Christmas, as it has a more sentimental feel to it than a postcard might.

Rattlebox
Rattlebox takes eCards to the next level, offering personalised videos instead of static images which you can email to a friend.

Someecards
Looking for an irreverent, humourous eCard to send? Someecards has you covered. Be warned though, some of the choices are well and truly in the off-colour category.

Smilebox
Smilebox allows you to choose a design and then upload your own photo, video, music and/or message which you can email, add to your blog or print to send to a friend.

I have used the Jacqueline Lawson cards for about 5 years and am very happy with them. New ones are continually added to the website, and the cost annually is about the price of 2 cards purchased from a news agent . There is no limit to the number of cards you want to send.

These sites both have large numbers of free e-cards for many occasions - you can often "tailor" the music, stamp, background, etc.
