According to the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA), approximately 10,000 Australian internet users’ computers are currently infected with a type of malware called a DNSChanger. If you don’t remove it by 9 July 2012, you won’t be able to connect to the internet. Drew explains how to check if you are infected.
The ACMA, CERTAustralia (the federal government’s computer emergency response team) and the Department of Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy have collaborated to develop a diagnostic website that, in most cases, shows you whether or not you are infected with DNSChanger.
To check if you are infected, visit //www.dns-ok.gov.au/
If you are not infected, the words ‘You do not appear to be affected by DNSChanger’ will appear in a green box at the middle-top area of the page.
