After more than a year of rumours and waiting, technology giant Samsung last month confirmed that its revolutionary smartphone, which folds out to become a tablet computer, will be available in the first half of 2019.
The announcement was made by Samsung's Director of Product Strategy and Marketing, Suzanne De Silva at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) international expo in Las Vegas, along with a February 20 launch date for the brand-new Galaxy S10.
So why should you care? Every year, news agencies push out the same old articles about brand new smartphones, hyping up the ‘game changing’ features of the new iPhone or Android phone, when it is, in fact, the same phone with a few minor upgrades.
But Samsung’s foldable tablet-to-smartphone will without any doubt be the most revolutionary phone design this decade and will change the way we use our phones and computers. The popularity of the larger size iPhones and Android in recent years has shown the need and desire from the public for a larger screen that fits in our pockets, and the folding/unfolding smartphone-to-tablet computer will solve the issue while taking up a fraction of the space.
As with any product, there will be some bugs and issues with the first design, but if you are looking to buy a tablet or new computer in the coming year, and feel you also need to upgrade your mobile phone, then it may be worth considering Samsung’s smartphone-tablet.
What do you think? Will the foldable smartphone-tablet be a success?
