The biggest bird of them all

Developed in late 2009, the physics-based puzzle game Angry Birds has been downloaded more than 500 million times worldwide. Drew explains why the game is such a hit and how to download it for free.

Angry Birds is as close to the perfect casual game as you can get with instant accessibility, well balanced learning curves and satisfying game play. The player uses a slingshot to launch a bird across the screen with the aim being to knock down the structures to destroy all the pigs, before you run out of birds.

The best thing about Angry Birds is you don’t have to pay to play the game. There are a number of different versions available. The free version on smartphones comes with advertising while a full version costs only $0.99, is free of advertising and offers additional adventure.

While Angry Birds was originally only available on smartphones, there is now a free online version that can be played in your web browser or downloaded to your computer to be played offline.

If you are looking for a fun game that you can play by yourself, with friends, family and even your grandkids, give Angry Birds a go.
