Messenger Day: a fun way to tell your story

Font Size:

The best features of apps are often uncovered by mistake – that’s exactly what happened when Debbie discovered a fun new way to share her day with this addition to Facebook Messenger.

Quite simply, Messenger Day let’s you share with people the story of your day without the hassle of updating your Facebook feed every waking minute.

In the Messenger App on the home page, there’s an ‘Add to your day’ tile, which sits under ‘Shared Days’. By tapping this, you can add photos and videos to illustrate your day, either from photos or by taking them directly in the app.

When uploaded, there are three icons on the top right of the screen:

  • a squiggly line that let’s you draw on the image in any colour using your finger
  • a text button that allows you to add text, and
  • a smiley face, which allows you to add backgrounds and overlays to your image.

Seriously, you’ll be able to spend hours having fun with your photos – as the image of my dog shows.

Once you’ve played around, you can simply hit the arrow in the right hand bottom corner and the image will be uploaded to your day. You can then opt to save to ‘Your Day’ and select the people with whom you wish to share your social story. You can share with all your Messenger contacts, exclude those you don’t wish to share with, or create a separate custom list.

Those who have access to your Messenger Day will be able to view it for 24 hours before it disappears. You can also track who has viewed it.

And if you create a work of art that you really don’t want to lose, you can save to your Photos and send to those who may not have access to Messenger.
