Wikipedia shuts down

Undeniably the most utilised source of information on the internet, Wikipedia is to shut down on Wednesday 18 January as a protest against two US concessional bills.

The Stop Online Piracy Act and the Protect IP Act are believed by many in the technology industry to enable censorship, affect the livelihood of businesses on the internet and would stifle innovation. Since December, 800 members of Wikipedia have been debating and voting on the potential protest shutdown, which will now go ahead tomorrow. Wikipedia will be offline for 24 hours.
