Why your iPhone just got faster

In an unexpected move by Apple last month, the iOS 12 update released significant improvements to increase the longevity and usability of older versions of their smartphones.

Previously a massive bugbear for loyal iPhone users, Apple has never been a company to focus on improving or even supporting the older versions of its smartphone beyond a few years after release.

With an ever decreasing share of the smartphone market, Apple seem to be trying to improve their image and the appeal of their devices moving forward by supporting the older versions of the smartphone.

Users of the iPhone 6, which was released over four years ago, should be seeing improvements so significant that their phone is now running faster than when first released, and these improvements have affected all iPhones released after the iPhone 6.

According to Apple, the camera app now opens 70 per cent faster, the keyboard starts 50 per cent faster and, under a heavy workload, multiple apps work up to two times as fast.

For the next two months, owners of iPhone 6 or older models can replace their current iPhone battery at a heavily discounted rate of $39 (normally $119). This battery replacement can extend the usefulness of your iPhone for another year or two.

So, if you haven’t updated to the latest software version, consider downloading and updating today!
