Seniors Card in Queensland

Why is Queensland different than other States in that to get a Seniors Card in Queensland one is required to have a Centrelink Concession Card when in other States a Medicare Card is the Card use.

Why do we have to move to another State? We would like to utilise public transport but cannot because it is too expensive.

Begging to Centrelink is demeaning at the best of times.

Most probably has something to do with your Labor Government there.

As they say on their web page

"The Queensland Government is committed to continually improving the quality of our services to residents and visitors. "

Below is a link to their contact

Let us know how you get on

ABBY ---   Another pain is having to get a MiKi Card for public transport when in Melbourne.

It would be so much easier to have a card that would be accepted in all states.

In WA the Barnett government had it on their agenda to get rid of the concessions to those who only had a Seniors Card .

The move was defeated.

I say why can't the whole of Aussie be the darn same road rulles and all

It just may have something to do with the fact that we are overgoverned

We do not need this three tier governance for the small population.

LOL Abby,  we need to get rid of ALL the Government we have,  they all seem to be hopeless

Have sent my concerns to the Labour Gove here in QLD, needless to say - nil response, they make me sick

I'd like some evidence that this is all the fault of Labor.

Seniors Cards have been around for a while now, much longer than the current Labor government.

Seniors Cards are issued by the State Governments & have nothing whatsoever to do with Centrelink.  If you don't like the way the Labor Government in Queensland treats Seniors, you have the ability to toss them out or move to NSW where you only have to prove your age & state that you do not work more than 20 hours per week.  No dependence on Centrelink whatsoever.  Age & work qualification only.

innes is right again.

it's pretty much the same in Victoria too.
