China buying up Australia

S. Kidman and Co has named a new Chinese-Australian consortium as the preferred buyer for most of its iconic cattle station holdings.

The sale cannot proceed without the approval of the Foreign Investment Review Board (FIRB) and the Treasurer Scott Morrison, who has extended the time available for his consideration of the sale beyond the expected July election.

The value of the deal is $370.7 million.

I hate this idea but someone said it's good for the country, so is it a good or bad idea?

.........  I'm sure people may already know - but I'm putting it here as I thought it was "good news" .....

... Australian Billionaire and trucking magnate - Lindsay Fox - together with his son Andrew are in negotiations right now regarding the purchase of the Kidman property!   Should make a lot of people here in Oz happy if it all goes through.     :-)

Good thing that Scott Morrison put a halt on the sale :)

Scott and Malcolm only put the Kidman on hold for 90 days -- wait till these bastards get back in and it will be up fo sale to the Chinks again -- PLUS a lot of other sneaky things they have in store  -- like bringing back the end of bulk-billing

.... true!  Word "has it" that if Turnbull wins the upcoming Election - good ole' "Scomo" will be right there in the wings waiting to "stab him in the back" and take over as Prime Minister!  "Scomo" has the numbers apparently (according to ABC commentators.....)  Wouldn't like to see him as P.M.   .....revolting person!!!    Just my opinion ....... :-)

OMG can you imagine Morrison as PM what a bastard of a maggot he is -- he has NO heart at all,  I would not trust that bastard for a second.

"Over 130 Australian parties were approached as part of the initial sale process that commenced in April 2015, with late-stage Australian parties also given the opportunity to acquire the business through the opening up of a secondary process in March 2016," Mr Campbell the S Kidman and Co managing director said.

"It is important to note that no final bids were received from Australian parties at any time during the extensive and lengthy sale process."

I really hope it stays in Australian or part Australian hands.

I fail to understand how this can even be submitted to the FIRB.  It should be against the Constitution to have any form of primary production land owned by any non Australian identity.  Over the last few years China has gone from being the food basket of the World to become a net importer of food.  If this is allowed to continue we will eventually have to go to the markets in China to buy & import our own produce.  What makes it even more ridiculous is that the FIRB will not give permission to any non Citizen or non holder of a PR Visa, to purchase a residential property that has been lived in.
