Thanks Radish, just had a quick look in my area and was amazed at how mean some people are with their pricing, and others so generous.  Hate mean people.

Abby and Radish wanted to know what I found out about Airtasker

OK, I got onto to Airtasker and then as I said they wanted me to go to Facebook --which I do not belong to and have no intention of joining,  so I carried on with the form but they still wanted my name and address etc ,  I wrote back and said I was not in the habit of giving out my personal info to heaven knows who.

I still keep getting emails from them asking me to tell them what I want done-- which I tried to tell them and get a rough price but I was not willing to give out my personal details.

I think I will go with word of mouth as I like to have some idea who I have around the house.

I just got some more emails from Airtasker

Whether Airtasker or hipages I do think that the city people would have a larger selection of tradies.

Great believer in word of mouth too .. the other alternative I use are the ads in the local paper.

Sorry it did not work out for you Plan B ... you could always give them a male name ??? just to see how much they are charging.

or just tell them you already found somebody and not to contact you anymore.

There are a lot of scumbags out there that will take advantage of a woman.

Did you have to supply the material ? or did they pick it up from a shop ?

Abby I chose the planks ordered the number needed, paid for it and had it delivered. The tradesman doubled checked the area size and quantity, also the state of the concrete floor showed me different under lays and gave advise and supplied those also  he supplied the edging needed. It was 50 square meters in total. I am still in awe as to how skilled, efficient they were and willing to move and replace furniture. I would recommend them to anyone. 

Incidentally my daughter used her own company email address but they were aware it was for a woman, just nice men I think.
