Man builds replica of Noah’s Ark
A Dutch carpenter, in 1992, had a dream that the Netherlands would one day be flooded so, 13 years later, he built a replica of Noah’s Ark and hopes to be able to sail it to Brazil in time for the Olympic Games.
The carpenter, Johan Huibers, built the impressive 125m long, 29m wide and 23m high vessel, exactly half the scale of the specifications mentioned in the bible. A popular tourist attraction, the ark acts as an interactive museum and function centre moored in a port south of Amsterdam. He is hoping to raise almost $2 million to cover the cost of sailing it across the sea to Brazil, to visit every port in South and North America. So far, he has raised just under $3000.
What do you think of this project? Too much time and money? Or an inspiring act of dedication to an ancient myth?
