Federal Election 2016

Well, we have the double dissolution election on 2nd July. I guess we need a topic on it.

Though this could get boring with all the people who never change the party they vote for, arguing that their current representatives are wonderful.

Hey Libs, the new Ministry is looking good, here's a link if you haven't already seen the news:

Horse manure.

The chance of you saying the new ministry is crap was never abbove zero.

Why do you maintain this pretence of objectivity?

Keep calm, life's good with the Libs!

Yes. For a tiny, very wealthy minority.

I agree.....Tis "horse manure"!

????????

It is now offensive to suggest that Malcolm Turnbull is a blithering idiot and acting AS terrified AS SOMEONE who is standing naked in front of 50 women after he has raped their daughters.

????????

REALLY!!!!!

I have been called and treated WORSE by other commenters on this site.....

Why so sensitive????????

BEFORE Malcolm Turnbull was even BEEN SWORN IN this IDIOT already broke an election PROMISE in regard to Superannuation which he said was iron clad.... maybe I have a different interpretation to what iron clad actually means..... silly me, aye.

So much for Election Pledges:

Well it looks like the LNP are running true to form..... even before the final votes have been finalised!

They are considering reneging on their ELECTION PLEDGE on Superannuation.... even making them retrospective!

The Wealthy were not happy it seems!!!

Turnbull is looking like an idiot the way he is continuing to preach and throw is hands about and tell us the same thing over and over again -- I have got to the stage that I turn off, he has aged 10 yeas in the small time he has been leader -- and getting very red in the face -- are they trying to convince themselves they are the chosen ones -- by a great amount -- because they ARE NOT.

I can not believe that they have do NOT have an Environmental minister  to handle the Environment ALONE -- is it not important enough to warrant on in THEIR eyes!? UNBELIEVABLE!

Hunt made a total stuff up when he had the portfolio and knew not a thing and never had a clue and did a heap of damage.

PlanB

Just part of the par of Liberal ineptitude and gross malfeasance....

You will see a lot, lot more of it....

Particularly at the beginning of their reign....

When election time comes around they save all their 'tiny goodies' to distribute to the populace to gain favour....

Then they BLITZ the people with abjectly biased CORPORATE MEDIA constantly indoctrinating us with propaganda, to vote for their guy....

People forget the first 2.5yrs and with the SATURATION of CORPORATE MEDIA election propaganda, are indoctrinated into voting for the BIG BOYS party....

....against their OWN INTERESTS

SHOWS HOW POWERFUL PROPAGANDA IS!  I shouldn't be THAT surprised.... look at how easy it was to get the German people to go along with and fully support Hitler and the media wasn't as insipidly pervasive as our CORPORATE MEDIA has been!

Yes Muss the propaganda that is brainwashing most -- and like you say look how everyone got to support Hitler -- who I might add had the guns taken of the people long b4 he took over -- same as we have had done -- thats why America wants to get the guns off their folk too.

BUT all dictators took the guns off the people BEFORE  they mass murdered them.

--- although I do think the way EVERYONE is allowed to buy what ever guns in the USA is very stupid --

We here are also becoming a dictatorship -- bit by bit

911 was the beginning of this scare campaign -- to move towards Martial law etc.

I don't thnk the current Liberals are competent or smart enough to run a dictatorship.

I am sure they will manage with the direction of the puppeteers Barak

I was at first not a fan of the changes in the voting system in the Senate, but now I think it would be nice to have the same system in the House of Reps too.  When I voted at this last election, I favoured independents and minor parties.  In the Senate, I didn't put a number against any of the major parties, including the Greens.  But on the House of Reps paper, you have to vote for all the candidates.  On the H of R ballot paper in our seat there were two minor parties and four majors: Labor, Greens, Nationals and Liberals.  So, I put the two minors first.  But with a similar voting system to the Senate, I need not have voted for the last four at all.  I can't help thinking that having to vote for all candidates entrenches the major parties.  A House of Reps voting system similar to the Senate would encourage more minor parties and independents to stand for election.

Wow, nice & quiet in here

THIS is what happened just after the previous election (2013) all the radically irrational (neo con) right were knee deep and spitting poison and attacking ANY person who did not support their Liberal Party ULTRA neo con views.  After the election, most of them disappeared for good ...... "poof"

Now, wouldn't it be nice if most of those that did the same thing this time round just up and disappeared for good ..... "poof"

Somehow, I don't think the ringers, related and individual radically irrational (neo con) right will go this time.  That is because there is a big possibility that these multitudes of a few, actually were already trolling, oops sorry, trawling these waters.

Diddums must be tired now because they won the battle but lost the war.  NO STAMINA at all this lot, aye!

Need to wait for the recount in Herbert, and the Senate result.

I think Malcolm should be forced to hold his joint sitting of both houses, and suffer the embarrassment.

"The Australian Electoral Commission has finished recounting votes in the Queensland seat of Herbert and declared Labor's Cathy O'Toole has won by 37 votes."

http://www.abc.net.au/news/2016-07-31/election-2016-labor-wins-herbert-after-recount/7675898

Yeeeha!

Good stuff Turnbull was getting a bit too cocky

Now, the Libs have to choose a speaker.

My useless local member, Tony Smith (boring name, boring person), actually seemed to do the job quite adequately, and with none of Bronnie's drama.

I reckon they will go with him again.

I thought Tony Smith was a very fair speaker -- unlike Bronwyn Bishop who was a real BITCH

Well the election is over and now they are ready to start warming the seats of parliament but I do not understand why we have to pay $2.63 for each vote they get (Is the electoral law) .... can we use those millions for the budget so they do not touch our super and pensions ?????

Read below ... Another great stuff in our country that is why we are in deep S...T ...but look their enjoyment faces

The Australian Electoral Commission has doled out a total of $62.8m in public electoral funding, including $50.7m to Labor and the Coalition.

On Wednesday the AEC authorised the second and final payment of $2.3m to political parties and candidates for votes at the 2016 federal election. It followed an interim payment of $60.5m made in late July.

After both payments the Liberal party received a total of $24.2m, the Nationals got $3.3m and Labor got $23.2m. The Australian Greens received $6.7m.

Minor parties with the biggest share of funding were Pauline Hanson’s One Nation Party ($1.7m), the Nick Xenophon Team ($1.2m) and Derryn Hinch’s Justice party ($0.6m).

Under public election funding laws, the AEC pays $2.63 a vote to all parties and candidates who receive 4% or more of the first-preference votes.

Independents who received funding included Cathy McGowan ($82,346) and Andrew Wilkie ($77,185).

Unsuccessful independent candidates Tony Windsor and Rob Oakeshott still collected $72,957 and $71,477 respectively.

The other former MPs who received funding included the Glenn Lazarus Team, which got $21,435, and the dumped Liberal MP for Tangney, Dennis Jensen, who ran as an independent and got $26,079.
