Medicare and PBS Increased Cost Alerts
We all realise some Medicines and Medical bills are going to increase.
In order to realise it in advance rather than finding out when faced with an increased bill either at a Drs or more particularly at the Pharmacists for a needed medication it would be handy to know in advance.
The cost has just gone up for non-insulin dependant Diabetics for the strips needed to test strips for them to keep their diabetes under control now to cost $60.00 with the removal from the PBS of the subsidy for Pensioners and Health care card holders apparently.
I am not a diabetic but can realise this sort of increase is huge and potentially disastrous for those on the Pension.

PBS has also changed you now get LESS medications on it, so many medications you have to buy off the shelf now, not on a script -- so they are dearer AND do not add to your safety net.
Plus scripts have also gone up from $6.10 to $6.20 plus some are even dearer but you only get allowed $6.20 on the PBS safety net even though you might pay a great deal more.
-- you now have to buy at a greater cost than it would have been on PBS AND it doesn't add to the Saftey net --and also have to buy MORE medications b4 you get the safety net -- so in fact it has made a BIG difference to those on the pension AND also those on low wages.
They say Shoten was evil when he talked about the Medicare -- but they are bringing it in bit by bit, by stealth so as most won't even notice.
