Australian paedophile pleads guilty in US

Michael Quinn, an IVF scientist and a member of the Melbourne Chargers gay rugby team, has pleaded guilty to buying a six year old boy for sex.

He was travelling with teammates from the Melbourne Chargers who were to play in a rugby tournament in Nashville.

Quinn admitted during Thursday's hearing that he told undercover agents he was travelling to LA and wanted to "meet up with a dad who shares his young ones."

It really makes one wonder if these Pedophiles and the like -- the ones that rape and like to have sex with young people --of either sex -- their whole life and thoughts must revolve around sex,? Shame they weren't able to get their minds on other important things.

Where are all the so called feminists in all this.?

We have young girls being married off to old men;  girls being taken out of the country by their parents to their homeland to find suitable brides for their 14 and 15 year old daughters (some could even be younger) but we hear "zilch" rom them.

"In May 2010, a 14-year-old girl in Victoria was banned from leaving Australia and her parents forced to surrender her passport to save her from an arranged marriage.

The girl had told her teacher that she wouldn't be attending classes anymore because she was due to travel overseas to be married. She was just 13. According to court documents, the girl's teacher contacted Victoria's Department of Human Services, which sent two officers to the girl's home while her parents were at work. The girl let them in, telling the workers that "she was not attending school because her father had said that he did not like her going to school" and because she was "engaged to be married and was planning to travel overseas in two or three weeks' time in order to meet her fiance ... she had only seen a photograph of this man".

When asked how she felt about getting married, the child said she "did not know what to say as she had not met her fiance". When asked if she understood whether she was expected to have sex, she indicated that she did not know what that really meant.

Two months later, a 17-year-old Sydney girl called Australian Federal Police and told therm she was being taken against her will by her mother to Lebanon to be married.

The girl told police that she might have to "hang up at any time" because she didn't have much freedom to use the phone. She wanted to be placed on the Airport Watch List so she could not be taken out of the country against her will.

In a third case, a Sydney girl aged 16 confided to a teacher that her parents were planning to take her abroad to marry a man she did not know.

Federal Magistrate Joe Harman noted that the application to have the girl's name put on the Airport Watch List was "becoming increasingly common before the court."

"The wedding has been planned to take place in a little under two weeks' time and would involve the child flying from Australia [to Lebanon] for the purpose of marriage".

He was able to put a stop to it, only because the girl had "betrayed, or at least bucked the authority of her parents" in approaching her teacher, but she was fearful for her personal safety once her mother became aware of the proceedings. Adding to the sense of urgency, there was some risk that if the girl's parents got wind of what was going on, she might be "spirited out of the country over the weekend" and nothing could be done to preserve her rights.

Teens brought to Australia as wives

While girls living in Australia are at risk, hundreds of teenage girls have been brought to Australia to get married under a government visa program.

Figures released in 2011 showed that more than 200 17-year-old girls were granted prospective spouse visas over the past five years - a figure child safety campaigners branded as shocking."

The first part of your post is good news. Those child marriages were stopped.  (I hope the stories were real. You gave no source.)

The second part is Murdoch, the racist, anti-Islam, hatred monger and provocateur. Please find me another source before I'll even believe it.

Pepe the young girls are taught at school that they cannot be forced overseas to get married. I was teaching English to an Iraqui woman whose daughter turned 13 and I asked the girl on her birthday now she was 13 would she be expected to get married like her mother was at 13 to marry someone of her parents choice. Her answer was emphatic - Australian Law did not allow it to happen and she would protect herself by informing the teacher or police if she thought it was likely and be put on an airport watch, she did not want to be like her 26 year old mother who had her at 13. The schools and immigration are doing a good job in informing the girls of their rights.

The girls are not the only ones, young men are also confronted with "arranged marriages" in refusing to comply they face family problems, yet again they know their Australian rights and refuse to get married.

The early marriage expectations are cultural not paedophile which is a totally different subject.

the biggest danger of Paedophilia today would appear to be the Internet where men go online to groom their victims, the Internet is also fortunately proving to be the best way of catching paedophiles.

Viv, I am pleased to hear the story you related;  but how many others are still doing their parents' bidding...we would not know.

No, we don't know, so please don't jump to extreme conclusions and base political decisions on that.

I find this disgusting.

It is not a Murdoch owned newspaper: it is owned by Richard Desmond.

Yes, we have already agreed that such marriages are unacceptable.
