Noel Whittaker's article in today Sunday Times WA
Whittaker has written that the Social Security Budget is $159 billion a year.
It accounts for a third of the Commonwealth Budget which is $451 billion.
The cost of the Social Security budget is growing at 8% a year while total revenue is growing at less than 3%.
Given that we borrow one billion a month blindy freddy can see something has to be done.
More cuts will have to be made so I cannot see much happening to the changes proposed re superannuation .
..... get rid of the pollies $199,000 ongoing disgusting "life" pension's and Gold Travel Cards!
... stop paying welfare to people who earn "real" money and don't declare it!
.... stop the expensive plebiscite on gay marriage!
.... make the "big boys" pay correct taxes!
.... make companies like Ikea - Apple - Mining Co's. etc. pay proper taxes instead of hiding $$$
off-shore!
Stick the GST up! Extra 5% - neither here nor there .......
.....CANCEL the ridiculous submarine order (outdated by the time they will be built!)
.....drop in the ocean I realise but least it's a start! lol
Oh and "quick-fix" - instead of "dumping" the 200 million dollars worth of drugs that Border Patrol reportedly seize every week - how about they re-sell it on the streets for double/triple the money??? Hahahahaaaaa - gotcha - sorry! :-)
