MONDAY (25/7/16) was NOT a good day for AUSTRALIA !! ................... (as has been reported Worldwide!)

7.30 REPORT (ABC) - Elder Abuse in Aged Care Facility ......young male carer - abusing elderly man in his 80's with Dementia ........in S.A. Nursing home ..... (video supplied) DISGUSTING!

AUSTRALIA STORY (ABC) - Gorgeous young girl (Iranian refugee - raped and tortured in Iran at age 17) Lives in Detention for over a year in Darwin! Is released and then given a 2 year temporary Visa by Immig. Dept. - she does school here (Yeronga High - Brisbane) - graduates - marries .....and then when Visa expires .......they come and get her - HANDCUFF her and fly her back into a Detention Centre in Darwin and then back to a Brisbane Detention Centre - where she has now been virtually in solitary confinement for 8 months!!!

Despite heaps of people/lawyers/teachers/her husband etc. - here in Oz and all kinds of Human Rights Advocate support ...... PETER DUTTON has NO EMPATHY - and is hell bent on deporting this beautiful girl in the next few weeks - back to IRAN!!!! DISGUSTING!

FOUR CORNERS (ABC) - NT Detention Facility - Horrendous CCTV and video footage of young children/teens - beaten - degraded and stripped of any dignity these poor kids may have left in their sad and troubled lives - by brutal MALE PRISON GUARDS!!!! DISGUSTING!

I have watched CNN News (US) - BBC News (UK) ......... both are appalled and what they both said was: ...."How can this happen in the "World's Richest Country?" ???????

I ASK THE SAME !!!! ????? APPALLING !!!

.... and - this is just the tip of the ice-berg!!! What other revolting/digusting/appalling things are going on that we - the PEOPLE are not privy to and what is being "covered up" by Govt. Depts. etc.???? Beggars belief!!!

...trust you to come in with your usual incidious remarks! It was reported on both CNN and BBC "we are the worlds richest country"! I am simply repeating how "others" are reporting us!

One question Foxy...were you perhaps a bit sleepy when you heard that report? The one saying Australia is the richest country in the world?

Maybe you didn't hear the word "one" of the richest countries in the world.

Please don't get me wrong..besides that...it's a good topic and I wish you luck.

You have raised some very good points and although it's heart wrenching to hear of some of the things happening in Australia...they are not peculiar to this country alone. How do we right it all...alas it's not an easy job and I am sure many feel quite helpless.

It disgusts me when I hear about such things as this that go on --IMO anyone that is in charge of Older people -- Children -- Animals etc should have a character check and be weeded out as past behaviors is an indication of future behaviours.

Anyone that treats people in this way needs to be punished to the full extent.

PlanB -- When my dear old Dad was in the Nursing Home, he wanted me to buy him the Sunday paper so he could check out the T.V book to watch his favourite shows. Everything went good for a long time but then he said he could order the paper to be delivered to him. I gave him $5.00 to keep in his drawer. He started to get very anxious and told me one of the Nurses' Aids always wanted to borrow $2.00 off him and would return it in a couple of days. Well she never did, and came back to borrow more. I told him that was "Not On" and wanted to report her to the Sister but he was afraid he might get into trouble for telling lies. I eventually started to get the paper for him. Imagine if many of the patients gave her $2.00 each, how much she would be making? Even after he died I was very tempted to tell the Sister, but I respected his wishes. I hope other families work up to what was happening.

HOLA yes I don't doubt that that happens in these places -- these mongrel type people need to be jailed for a long time -- these old folk need to be treated with deepest respect -- it is amazing just what we can learn from them -- even if they have a bit of dementia -- as they can often remember way way back and have some very interesting stories to tell -- they really do show so much love when treated the right way.

I hate it when I hear of anyone or any Animals that is at the mercy of others treated in this horrific way, it breaks my heart.

Foxy, last Monday night on ABC tv certainly was emotionally intense. I missed the 7.30 report but Australia Story brought me to tears. It is SO unfair and wrong that Dutton won't allow that lovely young woman the freedom to live her life here as one of our citizens. She is left with the choice of remaining locked up forever or returning to Iran where she was raped and abused and will be forced by her step father to marry a man in his 50s because she was raped. And all simply because she arrived on a boat paid for by her mother who smuggled her out of the country to save her.

Then Four Corners which had me seething with shock, anger, disgust and the tears kept flowing. Then yesterday I read that beautiful letter written by the boy who was most abused and burst into tears again. He is now 18 and in an adult gaol but he entered detention at age 10, the same age as my granddaughter. When they gassed the boys and got them out after 8 minutes they left him in his cell choking and only went back for him later. His letter was really touching, will see if I can find it.

I want to see heads roll and big change !!!!!

Robi I felt the same as you and sure I bet these kids are no angels -- but neither have they been shown any love or proper discipline either and he seems quite a nice young bloke -- I agree I want heads to rolls over this and many more than a few!

Seems that these cruel sadistic bastards jus love to treat people like this -- I would like to see how they liked it given the same treatment!

Robi ... my sentiments exactly - cannot believe what we "saw" in the last couple of days .... and - as I said prior - "tip if the iceberg" .....with all the Indigenous kids also locked up in W.A. - makes one wonder what else is being " covered up"? DISGUSTING ......

.... they should immdiately shut down that Detention centre in NT - and also SACK and bring to justice all those despicable so called prison guards ...... appalling!

Also to think - that possibly - these damned prison guards maybe parents of their own kids????? How do they treat their kids huh??? Beggars belief!!! UGH!

I am SHOCKED that they have not already stopped this -- as I am SURE they would have known about it --but are pretending they never did -- there is NO need for cruelty -- I saw somewhere that they were going to SUE these kids for $160.000 or something like that???? where do they think these kids would ever have that sort of money!

I signed Thea and PlanB, I agree, this could not have been kept hidden. It must have been known and a blind eye was turned.

Shame indeed.
