Yes Abby, I reckon 9 out of 10 people will aggree with you on that one. Gray Hounds are only for GREEDY mongrels that couldn't care less about their dogs, just their bank books.

Yes I hope the ban goes Australia wide .... australia is one of the only 8 countries in the world that still has greyhound racing.

This one may have escaped notice...it was back in May this year.

"A group of retired politicians trying to claw bigger pensions and more free travel from the taxpayer will get their day in court next month.

The High Court has agreed to hear the challenge by four former federal MPs – Labor's Barry Cunningham, Tony Lamb and Barry Cohen, and Liberal John Moore – seeking a big boost to their entitlements."

The rest of the article can be read here....I have no idea of the outcome of this challenge.

They had the gore to approach the Commonwealth to fund this never ending greed

Hides like elephants these 4...make me sick.  I hope they are or were unsuccessful.  Tried to find out the result of the case but no doubt the High Court has reserved their decision for a while.

OK so now what about the Horse racing -- bet they won't touch that -- too many silver tails in that but just as much cruelty

What about Pigeon racing? Those poor birds are cooped up all day, maybe let out to fly around the area, but on race days they fly hundreds of kilometers facing attacks by hawks and other predators, all for the sake of the fastest times. The list can go on.

Yes HOLA you are right ANY exploitation of Animals is uncalled for

I'm glad he banned it, but what a stink it's caused, Ray Hadley screaming blue murder about it every day, I can just imagine what in that report he saw, it must have been horrific.

Save the Brumbies in Mt Kosciuszko National Park.  The preferred plan is to cull thousands by shooting them from helicopters, too shocking for words.   photo  pixpics2024

Yes I agree Toot appalling,  these I believe are the Waler breed that were used in the WW1

Toot, those brumbies are very attractive, but they are in the wrong place. It's a fragile environement, and they are destroying it for a lot more native animals, some of which are at threat of extinction.

You can't just support the well known, suck-you-in type animals. You have to look at the complete picture, and the brumbies don't belong there.

On Landline last week, there were people prepared to take the lot off their hands and this option should be pursued first IMO.
Baird could stop this too if he wanted.

Toot

Apparently in 1970s there was a licensed horse roping/brumby running programme.

However concerns over the inhumane practice and the adoption of the Plan of Management in 1982 resulted in the ban of the programme
