Anthony Albanese

Anyone see this interview last night?  I thought he did very well not to break down.  Lovely story.

It's a good story.

Is he aiming for party leadership?

I've just read that story about Anthony Albanese. I'm sure there are thousands of stories like his. When my sister travelled to England in the early 60's with her girlfriends, one of them had an affair with a passenger on the ship, who happened to be married. The result was an unwanted pregnancy but the girl eventually had the baby in England and then came back to Australia, never telling her story. Her parents died without knowing they had a Grandchild in England. I felt so sorry for them, the girlfriend never showed any remorse, it was all behind her.

Albo is the real thing.  He is the type of Unionist that made the Labor Party. One of the greats like Ben Chiffley John Curtin  & Arthur Caldwell.  Unfortunately the Labor Party has been taken over by the new breed of professional Politicians who start out with a degree in Law etc & move through the ranks until they inherit a Seat.  He had little hope of beating Shorten & has little hope of ever becoming the Leader.  Watch Tania Plibersek, the next Labor leader.

What sort of odds are you giving on Tania ? :)

Sorry Abby.  No odds offered by me for Tania.  I only take bets on what I consider a sure thing (Like Hillary).  The problem with Tania is that all the powerful men will be against her.  BUT, you have to add the fact that, in general, women will not support a woman.  In spite of all that, I still think she is the best thing that Labor has to offer as the next winner.

Innes

Do believe that Chris Bowen would make the best leader of the Labor Party ... possibly then become the Prime Minister.

Sorry Abby.  Bowen simply hasn't got it.  In any spill, Shorten would have him for breakfast.  I would not put money on it, but I believe that Albo is the only one to rid Labor of Shorten, but Plibersek will defeat Albo in a ballot.

Hola, I  travelled on that ship the Fair Sky two years after his Mum was on board. (Iwent to NZ on a working holiday when I was 20). Albanese was born in 1963 and I was on the ship in 1965 and his dad could possibly have still been working on the ship.

Staff on all these cruise ships have a great time with the female passengers.;)  I think there could have been quite a few pregnancies back then emanating from cruises.

Pepe -  I'm sure there was plenty of bonking going on.

Yes Innes, I agree he is the real deal, he has genuinely dedicated his life to fighting conservatives for a better deal for the less fortunate.  A one off.

Not a one off. But for some reason he has been noticed by some who would not normally commend a "leftie".

You've got to lift your game a bit Barak. "Leftie" or "Rightie" people are still human beings and Albanese's story is a good one and worth recognising.

What the hell are you talking about?

There is a reason I put quote marks around "leftie". I can't be bothered explaining it to you.

You have been on here for a little over 5 minutes Barak & you know who I do & do not support.  I support people of quality & ability, regardless of their personal politics.  As toot2000 said, Albo is the real deal, not a thug like Shorten.  I think we still have a place in Australian Politics for a Fair Dinkum Labor Party.  Great pity that we haven't got one.

That's a lovely story with a happy ending...but affairs on board ship didn't only happen back then but present day as well...I almost had a shipboard romance with the cruise captain of the sea princess...but after a few moonlight drinks under a starry sky in the middle of the pacific he told me he had nine children, so with my six, and him being away for months at a time......

It fizzled out.

Cranky -  I think you were the lucky one that got away. Knowing sailors, they have a girlfriend in every port, or is that a child in every port?

More of an ego boost than anything else Hola, He was delightful. but I had no intentions of leaving my gorgeous husband down in the bar for longer than necessary...but it makes for a missed romance on the high seas..Great party piece ,and for some reason my hubby thinks its hilarious..

It's a bit like that old movie.."Yours, mine and ours"..That never was.....lol

The daughter of a friend of mine went on her first cruise and she "did" marry the captain. and has had a great life tripping around the world to meet up with him onboard and do various cruises.  I think she has been married for about 10 years now.

He works for the Princess line and some who have cruised in recent years would have come across him.

Oh my goodness...What years were they?...lolol

Yes I saw that story and felt for Albo

it was a good story,    glad it ended well for him,   HOLA,      i to came here on the FAIR SKY,

More boat people.

BARAK,     WHO IS BEING A BIGOT AND RACIST NOW,       YOU SHOULD BE REPORTED,

BARAK,    you are a pig,    NO,     i take that back,    its an insult to the pig,

One evening in October When I was about one-third sober
And was taking home a load with manly pride
My poor feet began to stutter
So I lay down in the gutter And a pig came up and lay down by my side
Then we sang "It's All Fair Weather" And "Good Fellows Get Together"
Till a lady passing by was heard to say
She says, "You can tell a man who boozes By the company he chooses"
And the pig got up and slowly walked away

cats - what ARE you talking about?

Barak ,If you can't stand foreigners, you are in the wrong country.

And the wrong Seniors site...We are one but we are many...

You are surrounded...LOL. :).

Barak - You did say, " I can't stand all you foreigners". I suppose you were taken "out of context"?

We are all bloody foreigners, who cares.

I'm sorry. I thought the irony in that comment would be obvious.
