NBN SPEEDS

I am with Westnet.  I am paying $79.99 a month.

I am on the middle plan...one up from the basic.

My speeds are   Line Speed 21.73, Download Speed 2.72

If anyone else is with Westnet here in WA would they mind doing a speed test (can get one if you google it) and let me know your speeds please. I would also like to know what others interstate are getting.

I dont think these are good enough.

I am not with Westnet but saw this from the West Australian. - looks like we have the slowest speeds in Australia.

No help from me either Pepe ... on ADSL with absolutely no chance of getting NBN in the near future (if ever!!).

Current as just tested:

Download speed: 14.65 Mbps; Upload speed: 0.94 Mbps

Tested on this site: http://www.speedtest.net/

Thank you all for responding...appreciated.

I have been in contact with Westnet and complained about the 2.7 download speed.  After reading what was in today's paper and the link Viv gave it is very obvious that we are not well served in WA.

They say the average is 7.1 in WA...well I would like to get even that.

There is no comback at Westnet because when you sign up you agree that you will have no claim on them or something to that effect if you do not get the speed you sign up for.  They sure have covered their "asses"...I imagine other ISP's have the same clause in their contract.

Just remember that Westnet is in fact owned and run by iinet, I checked my speeds with iinet 2.7 varying to 9.7 that's with ADSL.

Yep that is right Viv...They bought Westnet a few years ago.  I dont know why they don't just call it Iinet to be honest.

Do you get your mobile phone with them Pepe? I had a pretty good deal before the acquisition of Westnet ($10.00 a month) but have gradually taken the plan upwards as all my children and grandchildren and sister all have mobiles as first choice so I get pretty well unlimited calls for $40.00 a month, cost me far more using a landline to mobile.
