Is Peta Credlin headed for Parliament?

DISGRUNTLED millionaires are attempting to draft Peta Credlin to unseat federal Cabinet minister Kelly O’Dwyer in the blue-ribbon seat of Higgins.

A powerful group of local Liberals want Tony Abbott’s former chief of staff to challenge Ms O’Dwyer in retribution for her role in an unpopular tax on their superannuation savings. When asked by the Herald Sun about the plan on Friday, Ms Credlin would only say: “I have not been formally approached to run for Higgins”.

Should be OK after all she has had plenty of experiance, she has run the country before.

Wonder whether she would get much support.  Don't think the Liberals would want her under their banner.  Oh, except for Tony Abbott.

What a great idea! Credlin appears to have a sound knowledge of what is required. My concern however, is that whenever I hear her talk it is mostly about politics, one upmanship on the other side kind of stuff. This is a serious job with considerable responsibility. We need some serious people doing it, and doing it for the right reasons. What we dont need is another "wind bag" telling us how good they are and how bad their opponents are. If she can stop the fighting and go about improving the lives of people then I say go for it!

I think she's doing very nicely at Fox, could be earning more than her old job plus her husband will have to be consulted, interesting idea though.

Frank, one upmanship, windbag, two of the main characteristics of a career politician on both sides.  She is looking more and more qualified by the minute.

How I wish that politicians would revert to the old strategy of telling us what they will do better rather than how bad the oposition is.  Has that boat sailed, we seem to keep rewarding both sides of politics for continued bad behaviour.

of course she will ,she is playing the long game ,she knows about politians, salary super and pension for life, plus all the other perks,to much for anyone to pass up ,she has got a profile now ,just watch her take advantage of it.

And as for stabbing their collueges in the back ,both partys havent got a problem with that.

Good luck Peta Credlin...I hope you make it!

**face palms**

Another party hack foisted upon a long-suffering public..... and an Abbottite to boot....

The last thing we need in this nation is more party-aligned politicians feeding handsomely out of the public trough while dictating to the peasants how much bread to take with their bowl of soup.

Sorry but personally I think she is a nasty piece of work.

Don't like what is snideingly being done to kelly O'Dwyer behand her back. Just had a baby for goodness sake and people are taking advantage while she is way.

As for the milionaires wanting to keep rorting the Super system, makes you sick.

This is the woman who pulled Tony Abbott's strings whilst he led the most incompetent nasty government this country has ever had. No thanks

Compared with Rudd and Gillard, the Abbott government performed well ... even if it ultimately ran off the rails.

No government has been as incompetent and damaging to the Australian economy as those managed by Rudd and Gillard!!

Can't be any worse than what we have now. Might be great prime Minister. At least she she says what she thinks. Not like what we have now. Every idea ends up off the table. Floor must be a mess by now.

Couldnt agree more John.

Sadly all Turnbull and his 'bed-wetter' mates are doing is keeping seats warm for Labor

Sooner the better - some real talent and experience, at last.

She's got a good head on her shoulders, nice change from some of the sad bunch on offer at the moment.

Which party would suffer her?

I just got this email from Peter Dutton.

If Peta Credlin remains with the LNP then she is in the right party.

The LNP have been quietly going about their business making the big calls and importantly, keeping the scoreboard ticking over. These people make Labor, Unions and Greens look like a disorganised rabble.

"It’s now been 1000 days since the last people smuggling boat reached Australia and more than three years since the last known death at sea at the hands of people smugglers.

Under Labor, Australia saw:

50,000 illegal maritime arrivals;More than 800 people smuggling boats;More than 8,000 children in detention; and More than 1,200 deaths at sea

The Coalition Government has brought maritime people smuggling to a standstill and saved countless lives.

This success has enabled the Government to remove all children from detention and close 17 detention facilities."

Sounds like fake news to me.  Or is it post truth.

The information is correct.

There is no denying that this government has stoppped the boats, children are no longer in detention and detention centres have closed.

And no more drowings at sea.

Also all this has saved the Australian taxpayers a great deal of money.

Let us be fair.

That's right Radish, this government put the people smugglers out of business. Stopped them from selling Australia as a destination.

What an absolute disgrace our Labor,Greens,Union Government was!

The tears they shed, The hand wringing, The feeling of hopelessness they conveyed to the Australian people. When Tony Abbott said his government would stop the boats, Kevin Rudd said it could not be done without starting a war with Indonesia.

Come on people, there has not been one drowning at sea?  Really, how could anyone possibly know that?  Who is tracking the progress of boats that have been turned around, does any one know or care what happens to the people in those circumstances?   If you don't now something for sure and you continue to claim it as a fact you are lying or are delusional. (I am talking about politicians here not individuals who choose to give them unconditional support).

As to saving the taxpayers a great deal of money, are you claimimg that it is cheaper to set up and run internment camps indefinatley than to process refugees on the mainland and sort them out expeditiously? I would love to see the figures.  How is paying countries like Cambodia millions of dollars per person saving money?

How can we trust the word of a government that will not let independant parties inspect and report on the Internment Camps or will not give us information on what they call "Operational Matters"?  A medical professional that would be compelled to report cases of abuse in Australia by law can not report such matters if working in an Internment Camp or they will face imprisonment. The government seem quite ready to release information when it suits them or bolsters their cause.

When is the government going to release figures on the number of people arriving here by plane on a visitors Visa who just dissapear and don't return home?  It will probably make the boat arrivals look insignificant.

Notice I do not mention any particular political party, I blame both so called major political parties for ths disgraceful state of afairs as they are both complicit and were and still are acting for the worst possible reason, attracting votes.

exPS, Your logic is much of the reason we got into the mess we had from 2008. I dont know why you insist that only the 2 major parties have a say. You obviously dont understand how the houses of parlaiment work. All politicians and lobbyists are responsible for the outcome even though the outcome may not be what some wanted!

I recall the ABC conspiring to get a boat load from Sri Lanka to break the government's good record. If there was a boat on the water the Labor, Greens, Unions, ABC would know about it. As they have always known. It's far too politically convenient to say "we dont know so there must be." Kindergarten stuff, really!

Come on Frank, you are more politically astute than that, the two major parties did decide this one because neither was brave enough to do the right thing, the legislation regarding the treatment of these refugees was passed with the consent of both  major parties without the need of one vote from any of the Independants.  Are you seriously suggesting that input from the Greens or any of the Independants would have changed the overall refugee policy?  I would say that you are the one who does not understand how politics works.

Your blue tinted glasse have fogged your capacity to reason.  Realy, you expect us to believe that in the governments own words, thousands have been turned back, but not one person has drowned on that return journey, who is qouting kidergarden stuff now?

So, if the ABC conspired to bring in a boat load of refugees, why was no one from the ABC arrested for people trafficking?  I find it very difficult to believe that an LNP government would miss an opportunity to stick it to the ABC.

Frank, you are passionate about your chosen political party, I don't blame you for that, most Australians do seem to pick a party to follow and will not accept that they can do any wrong, but in your case I believe it clouds your judgement.

Myself I would rather be ina position where my political opinion is of some value and is not just cancelled out by the fellow down the road who always votes for the major party that I don't.
