Topics

Have noticed a problem with topics.

A topic will be raised in Soap Box and then not knowing this has been raised in there (maybe it has gone out of sight and on a previous page) someone will then raise the topic as a totally new topic so we end up with two places where the subject is being discussed.

Just my opinion but I think it is better to raise a new title for a new topic not having all mixed in under one heading.

Would be interested to hear others opinions on this.

The whole point of "The Soapbox" is that people are free to speak on various topics..now..there is no  problem if people use the ..

"Reply"  button and place their replies under the topic they are interested in...

There are so few people posting on this forum that it makes no sense whatever to have umpteen new threads...

As we see.. most days..a  lot of threads that are dished up..go back to the kitchen untouched!

If a topic  is raised on "The Soapbox"  and someone contributes..they can also comment on another thread which might have a similar  topic..

What is the problem? Seems straight forward  to me...

I guess no site is perfect Radish.

If we had a new Thread for each topic I would probably leave as there are a lot of Threads already.

What I would do if I were the owner of the site I would do the same as Yahoo and let the owner of the Thread monitor the site themselves, delete nuisance posters and delete posts that are annoying.

On Threads with multiple topics of conversations it is difficult, some topics do go on a lot some just are not popular and die their own death.

I do think that the Moderator should delete Threads if they have not had a response for 3 months. Some of the Threads listed on this Site are over a year old and nobody has chatted.

I fell into a problem with not reading the age of the Thread and responded to someone that had passed away.  How does a person know that person has passed on?  They cannot delete themselves after they have died.

That is the moderators job.

If the person has not chatted for say three months then their account should be closed.  If they are away on a long holiday they can always join again.

one man's meat ...

did you ever stop to think if youre posts may annoy somneone else?

As long as ther are no personal attacks or abuse, what is you problem

As far as  inactive accounts and threads, I do not see a problem with leaving it there. Some of us were friends of the departed or inactive members , and may like to read their old posts every now and then.

What a load of codswallop, so what's  your real agenda Radish?

Personally, I like people who can  keep the conversation going, no matter how random the topics get.

Kudos to you Thea!

i agree REAGAN,    we sometimes start on a topic then something pops into your mind,   and just go with it,   all works itself out in the end,

I actually agree with Radish, blog type postings don't have indexes as to what has been discussed or show whether there is for instance an ongoig political discussion which a lot of people who may not come on often but are interested in will bring back up because they know where to look E.g. Under politics.

A lot of people have stopped posting in the past few months purely because there are no longer designed subjects.

Ann this is a free site, no topic belongs to the original author it is put up for anyone to make a comment. If something irritates you contact the moderators if they consider your request is reasonable or the comment made was offensive they remove it, which is the fairest for everyone.

I agree with you Viv, well said.

I give up.   I just gave my personal view...I have no agenda as you have put it so "politely "Reagan and there is no need for this remark at all.

"What a load of codswallop, so what's  your real agenda Radish?"

It is no wonder so few bother to post anymore.

Thank you anyway Viv...as you say there is no way of knowing what has been previously discussed under one thread.

I see there are over 2,500 posts under the Soap Box...who on earth would be bothered going right back  over every post to make sure a subject has not already been raised.

Like you I seldom post on Soap box

I get confused eith all the different topics and people using it for scrap booking - pics, history etc etc

dogs breakfast

I think you, like me , have an uncluttered mind, Radish :)

Darn baloney all this. You people need to get a life. If you don't like  a thread, start your own. Thea and Ann are not here to entertain you. Put up your own darn topics and steer clear of those you have no interest in.

For  example I saw a couple the other day which I might add had no replies e.g. "This kid will go a long way LOL" and "My new door sign"

Why would I want to post on those threads, waste of my time. I enjoy everything Thea and Ann write about and find them both not only clever, informative and funny but highly intelligent.

Am I seeing some jealousy here?

Another thing, my feeling is, YLC is not here only just for your entertainment either. They are making a living and the more traffic on the forum the more clients they are likely to have.

If they depend on you lot of whingers, they may go broke, so what I say is, thank the stars there are people like Thea, Ann, RnR and Toot 2000 who make it interesting and are willing to give of their time.

I say again, get off your haunches and put up your own threads.

Banjo, isn't that what Radish just did??? and look at what has happened, all the nasty, unnecessary replies have gone up. This is exactly why I don't post much in here at all, my interests wouldn't comply with yours and your group so I'd be howled down, not worth the trouble in my books...

Whoooooooa    ................... still the same old "nasty piece of work" huh Banjo?? lol lol lol

Who the hell are you to tell people what they can/cannot post on an internet website that is open to all and sundry in the world?   lol lol lol .....

Go take a Bex (have a good lie down diddums) or drink a Horlicks - get a life!

Interesting that there are now only 4 so called "men"  left on YLC - all are "bullies from hell" - lol lol lol - sad actually .......

Yayyyyyy  for Rads and Deanna   :-)

The point is being missed.

I put up a post and someone said it had already been raised in Soap Box...I did not know.

That is it in a nutshell.

In future if I wish to raise a subject I will just raise it and if it has already been discussed under Soap Box so what and who cares!

You are talking real rubbish now. Obvious you haven't read Thea's reply to you at the top of the page.  For your convenience, I have copied the relevant section:

"If a topic  is raised on "The Soapbox"  and someone contributes..they can also comment on another thread which might have a similar  topic..

What is the problem? Seems straight forward  to me..."

Thank you Banjo and Reagan..I am certainly not going to even waste my time with  this silliness...

I would suggest however..Radish you take another look at Ann's thread "Another side  to the Muslim Story."

Enjoy your Anzac Day tomorrow...all of you...

PS:  As Banjo says..if someone does not like a particular thread..all  you have to do is avoid it..I do a lot of avoiding these  days myself!

I'm sorry your innocent question and suggestion had drawn so much angst

silly stuff

I agree, it is so silly to be quite laughable...I have chosen not to make any further comment on it.
