I hate plant thieves

I was only admiring the lovely plants the local council had started to lay on the little islands either side of the road near my home. I drove past this morning and was disgusted to see many of the plants had been ripped out and missing. There were Gazanias of many colours, English Lavender and tiny red leafed chinese bamboo. What a shocking waste of money and labour these councils have to endure. Lets hope the thieves who stole them have nothing but bad luck in planting them. I hope the plants turn their toes up and refuse to flower.

Hola we've had the same problem in Perth...no sooner are the plants put in.. they disappear..

A few years ago I planted some really nice plants on the outside of my front wall..they were uprooted within a week...so I got some really thorny roses..one would have to be mad to try and uproot those..happy to say they are still in situ...

Wish I can remember the names ..

Bonny and Clyde ?

Penn and Teller?

Nah, we can do better than that how about Foxy and Raphael???

Embarrassed by how much you're enamoured with me Ray

very humbling

... ohhhhhh   -     look how Mr. "No Humour" swoops in? lol lol lol

Ray mate, look it's "dumb" and "dumber", hahaha

Yes - you and Ray certainly put dumb and dumber to shame

Ray, like your new avatar. Must say the eagle is placed in a good position to c**p on a couple of heads!!

I do not mind someone lifting the occasional plant but when they stay to smoke it as well I really get annoyed.

ha ha S,D      bit cheeky of them,  lol,

Hola, my friend, like you "I hope the plants turn up their toes and refuse to flower."

I've got some poison ivy outside my house. The thieves never bother me!

A trick recently learned from a landscape gardener is to use fishing line to secure fishing hooks facing downward, to the base of the plant stem. This should do the trick.

Julian thanks for that handy hint. I'd prefer to have the hooks facing up so when the little thieves stand on the garden it might pierce their feet.

Can you explain this a bit further please, Julian?

Espalier the thieves up the boundary wall.

Line the shaft of the hook along the stem of the plant, along with other hooks, then use fishing line to secure the hooks by winding it around the shaft repeatedly

mate, you'd better check with your solicitor first before using fish hooks. In case some thief gets hurt, you'll have to explain to the magistrate your plants go fishing that's why they need fish hooks.
