Politics in Australia is for Masochists

Seriously, who with any intelligence - or basic common sense - would enter Australian politics today?

Anyone with a more conservative bent would have to constantly combat feral academics and media, so-called "progressive" forces, the loony Greens, activist and destructive movements which are given far too much prominence and sway, and innumerable minority groups which all believe they are more important than the majority.

Anyone successful in life and with a good understanding of how matters stand in this country has no "need" for politics unless it's for purposes of vanity, sees it as a means of benefiting themselves financially or - last but not least - he/she is a masochist.

Few now who enter politics have any leadership abilities whatsoever ,,,

More and more voters just want authenticity and political parties and leaders who have strong principles, use those principles to guide their policies and act consistently in line with those policies and defend them.

at least we have Trump. Says what he means and does what he says. What a breath of fresh air.
and by the way donates his salary to charity.. Not doing it for the money but because he believes .

Bill Shorten has ended four days of equivocation over Malcolm Turnbull’s ban on ministers sleeping with their staff, saying today he will not overturn the ruling should Labor be elected.

Four days to make a simple decision like this.

God help Australia if he becomes PM!

What about now?...

I am sure the reason why people enter politics is because of their EGO -- and the MONEY -- Turnbull would have done it for his EGO -- he does not need the money.

Most are career politicians they go almost straight from school to Uni   (free at that time too)  and then straight into politics -- and they have NFI of how people live in the real world

That is true of the Labor Party..

I truely believe that most politicians of all colours enter politics in order to make changes for the betterment of society.  Unfortunatley they do not realise that once they get themselves elected they relinquish there basic rights to an opinion and have to tow the Party line.

Much the same as some non elected Party Members who feel it their duty to tow the party line and refuse to even consider that those on the opposite side have any good in them.  Until we discard this mindless attitude of party A is always good, party B bad is always bad, we will have the disfunctional governments that we have.  All it takes is for people to think and act by looking at the facts and not along archaic tribal prejudices.

I do agree with PB and would like to see politicians have to have spent ten years in the workforce  before being able to stand.

I do not know how you can put the Labor party down so much Brocky and not include the Libs they are the very worst at not doing a hard days work in their life.

I do not like party politics at all Lab or Lib --- because they are not able to keep a mind of their own --but the Lab' is a darn site more for the everyday bloke than the Libs.

Its like I say about a Doctor -- give me one that had really suffered -- they will know what it is like  -- so the Pollies should have to work hard b4 they get their cushy job

@who would enter Australian politics today?

All who want feed of the teat of the Taxpayer

.. just look at the working conditions, the pay and the perks

   that the Australian politicians enjoy.

Yes Suze all so true parasites the lot of them

Why's Kevin Rudd smiling? He's getting $600,000 a year for life

Kevin Rudd and his wife, Therese, leave The Lodge last night for a new life filled with perks. Picture: Ray Strange

As prime minister for more than a year he is entitled to superannuation, a gold air pass, a car, at least four personal staff and his own office in Brisbane for life.

If Mr Rudd lives to be 85, that would cost about $20 million, The Daily Telegraph reported.

Thank god he was not supported in the UN post

That goes for all of them Suze and also in Rudd's case his wife is very well off as well and has a pretty good business she owns.

As well as Turnbull and all the others-- Howard the whole lot of them
