Avoid this new email scam

A new round of email scams are hitting Australians and Queensland Police are urging consumers to lookout for the latest "missing delivery" scam pretending to be from Australia Post.

'Unfortunately you have missed us!' the email reads.

'Our mail carrier tried to deliver a package to you. Unfortunately, no one was present to receive the package. Choose when and where you want to receive your package. You will see the options for changing the delivery on the next page. There is one item awaiting collection. Please find here on how and where to collect your item.'

The email features Australia Post branding and to the naked eye looks to be real.

“Please be aware that Australia Post will never ... ask you to click on an email link to print off a label to redeem your package, email or call you to ask for personal or financial information including password, credit card details or account information, [or] call or email you out of the blue to request payment." Queensland Police said.

Since when has Australia Post ever been considerate enough to send an e-mail inviting you to re-arrange a delivery? It's as much as they can do to shove a card in your letterbox whether you are there or not. Even if you call and ask for a redelivery or a redirect say to your office, you get pretty short shift! I can't believe people would actually fall for this one. It's Australia Post for goodness sake!! Now if this were purportedly from DHL I could maybe undrstand

Australia Post should be privatised

........and watch the prices of everything skyrocket!  They really have little competition.

No it wont

If they make abnormal profits , another provider will step in and provide competition

Its not a natural monopoly

At the moment there is no competition unless you want to use couriers

In that spacve the courier companies offer a far better servoice than Aus Post

Im sure its no stretch for some of these companies to offer postal services as well
