Yes, Its that time again...and we are off to the Brisbane Ekka , Oh, how I love to walk along sideshow alley watching all the little people flying through the air on the rides, and throwing up through gorging themselves with all the expensive food mum and dad buy for them, and the tantrums because the anklebiters can't have every showbag in sight,
Smelling the aroma of the cowshed and stepping in the dung amongst the straw, and shuffling side by side for hours, in the crowds of coughing and spluttering people...
Do I sound delighted?..
Well, I am as a lot of my grandies are coming too and thats makes for a memory.

The Ekka is the Royal Queensland Show.
Bowen Park was chosen in January 1876 as the site for the first ever Queensland Show. The first 'Royal' Show was held in 1921, when the Association was granted the prefix under warrant from His Majesty King George V. Since then, the shortened name 'Ekka' has replaced 'Exhibition' in the Queensland vernacular, indicating locals' affection for the show.
The Ekka has since been held every year with only two exceptions - in 1919 due to the Spanish Flu epidemic and in 1942 when the grounds were used as a World War II staging depot.
Cranky - Have a good time at the Show. Are you wearing an identity badge in case you wander away from the group? There is nothing more embarassing than having to turn up in the Police Tent to try and find your tribe.
